The Claretian Congregation

The Claretian Congregation is a religious congregation in the Roman Catholic Church founded in Spain in 1849. The Claretian Fathers numbering around 3000 are working in 64 countries in the world. They are engaged in pastoral, social and educational activities with an aim of spreading the love of God through their life and action and transform the society into a better place to live in.

The Claretian Fathers in India are working in more than 15 states (Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya etc.) They work mainly among the poor, the marginalized and the exploited. They also engage in Jail ministry, among the drug and alcohol addicts, HIV patients etc.

Education is also one of the priorities of the Claretians in the world. St. Xavier’s Public school, Peechanikadu that follows CBSE syllabus, is an initiative of the Claretian Fathers and run by a team of well – trained and dedicated staff under the leadership of Claretian society mainly for the educational and social development of the people of the locality.
